FIRE IN CAIRO

Muslim countries of the Mediterranean Sea, our closest neighbors, and at the same time worlds away. Holiday destinations and evergreens on the run, for us Italians.
Tunisia and Egypt burn a new-found political consciousness of the people some analysts warn that a long time but in which no one seemed to give real credit. Students, workers, journalists, intellectuals and, unbelievable, women have poured into the streets of Tunis and Cairo to vindicate the rights of the lack of which we are, at least in part, directly responsible, such as Italians and Europeans.
Ben Ali, born in 1936, the President of Tunisia since November 1987 after what went down in history as the coup against the national hero Bourguiba doctor, flew to Saudi Arabia after niet of Malta and Italy.
Exactly the same Italy that had supported the rise to power, with Craxi and Andreotti in the front row to blow the place with his cousins \u200b\u200bin the race across the Alps to the remote control of the ancient kingdom of Hannibal, he bounced the now unwelcome Former Prime Minister of Tunisia.
Leila Trabelsi, the wife of the latter, he instead spent the last hours in his country to replicate the behavior of the last twenty-three years, robbing. Of course, safety deposit boxes were made out to his family, but the way they have been filled and then emptied of one and a half tonnes of gold, disgusting Domain dell'allargatissima presidential family (apparently, most importantly, the branch Trabelsi), corruption, reminiscent of a single concept, that of theft, the umpteenth insult to a people far too patient for too long.
In all the years of Ben Ali's rule not democratic reform, only the persecution of opponents and constitutional reforms to eliminate the ridiculous time limit on the presidency.
The intelligentsia has taught for two decades and more the idea that Tunisia was a moderate country, free, assimilating these concepts to the laity only, neglecting the dismantling of many basic rights for the benefit of an oligarchy family . All This is because Ben Ali has attracted huge foreign investment in his country, many Italians, with favorable tax policies for companies, workers and intolerance of hospitality to a controversial fugitive corrupt celebrated as a pillar of our nation.
But, gentlemen, n'est pas la Tunisie Afef, habituée of the Italic lounges, spin doctors cathode of a Maghreb where he spent less than half of his life golden daughter of a minister, not by common people.
The Tunisians showed the world, and especially Italians, are not only Muslim fundamentalists less than others. They pulled out the power of desperation, such as those by fire protest because the police arrested trying to sell the vegetables to feed his children, have raised the dignity beyond the guns of militias of the regime with stones, as the Egyptians are doing.
overlooking Cairo from 1981 Hosni Mubarak, no, no relatives in Italy talks despite the vaunted claims by several people recently. On the other hand can two children in Egypt are worthy of note. Jamal and 'Allah helped them to plunge the country in 70th place in the ranking of corruption (do not worry, we hold a question-worthy 45th place) and dear father in the polls.
Mubarak is still strong among the public, is guaranteed against different religious denominations, has opposed terrorism, diplomatic and has a good reputation is the most reliable Arab leader, but his opponents have glimpsed the not too distant risk of a succession from father to son. Syria sign, so they jumped at the jump ball thrown by the Tunisians. Even the Egyptian workers live very dark times for years, services are scarce, low social mobility.
So fight, go to the streets to protest.
What we have here is a huge and complex issue, with the courage, Tunisians and Egyptians who flaunt with pride and why not, even reckless, while we, who so often we have erected in their Judges, we wallow in the status quo of puttanesimo.
Silvio where escape in case of rebellion? The question naturally arises.

(The title, however accurate, is grimly cloning is one of my favorite songs: Cure forgive me, I could not resist)
